Visitors from British Columbia

The door bell rang about 10 at night and here was a family from Kuper Island, BC come to visit! I've known Guy Jack since 1974 and now he and Pam have a son and 4 adopted kids. What a joy to have them stay over night to get rest for their return trip to Canada the next day (they were in San Francisco for a family part and just drove on down to see us)!

Their son Cordell looks just like Guy at that age.

Rob, Susie and Lauren in Indianapolis

We arrived home to a wonderful e-mail from Rob with photos of 10 month old Lauren. Isn't she precious.
Rob is a pilot with Southwest Air and is due for shoulder surgery soon to correct damage received in a fall last February.

Dan loves Arizona

Here are some historical spots that Dan holds dear from years when he was learning anthropology;

Casa Grande (yes, they built a roof over it to help perserve the structure.

Famous church built by Fr. Kino, San Xavier, on the Tohono O'odham Reservation (formerly called Papago) --he was disappointed they were working on the structure.

In the desert scene you can see a trail wander out into the desert with Baboquiv Ari Peak in the background, Dan climbed that in 1967, elivation is 7,734 feet.

Indian hospital at Sells, AZ where he did research to tell the gov. why the people weren't using the hospital--Dan told them to put a medicine man in the lobby and people would come--and sure enough they came!

Church at Ajo, but the mine has closed so the place was nearly deserted.

More from Arizona

The desert was gorgeous, mountains, cactus and even de Grazias' Gallery of the Sun in Tucson.

We had lunch with Dan's long time friend Elaine Wermschmidt in Tucson.

Arizona trip April '07

It was a whirlwind trip packed full of great events.

We stayed a couple of days with Richard and Kristi Perona (Karen's younger brother) in Tuscon.

Here is a photo of Dan's sister and her husband, Joanie and Jess Tyler, at thei\ home they are building in Cottonwood, AZ

It rains in southern California

This spring the flowers in our yard have been so beautiful. On Good Friday I took this photo of the pink camelia in the front of the house. The rain drops look like sparkling jewels. And the azaleas are a riot of color, too.

Easter weekend 2007

Easter morning we attended our home church, Lake Avenue Congregational with full orchestra and choir to sing Handel's Hallelujah Chorus, wonderful!
Blessed resurrection weekend! On Saturday we attended the service at the Messianic Jewish Synagogue Ahavat Zion in Beverly Hills. Our friend Stuart Dauermann is the Rabbi there. In the photo Stuart is holding the matza. It was a wonderful service and a new experience for both Dan and Georgia on Easter--a very cultural experience.

Dan takes the podium at Christ Church

While in the Washington DC area we visited some big new airplane museum near Dulles airport. Here is Dan with the Enola Gay (the plane that dropped the A-bomb) and also with the Enterprise--can you see him at the bottom looking up?

So, we went to the east coast and got to do some sight seeing while Dan taught in 4 different Perspective courses.

Yes, that is Georgia trying to get Roosevelt to smile for the camera.
There's Dan as he climbed to the pulpit in the church where George Washington attended. It is made in the shape of a wine glass!

And then here we are at Jamestown with the John Smith statue -- this is the 400th anniversary for the Jamestown settlement. Both Dan and Georgia are interested in archeaology and the team had just started digging again at this site. The workers talked with us and showed us stuff they had dug up that day, fantastic.

Actually Dan's family "Stanley" landed at Jamestown in 1623 and 1624 so it was fun checking it out!

Julia's cheer team wins National Championship

Spending time with Stephanie and Julia here in Pasadena is great. They are wonderful girls and growing into beautiful ladies. Steph is 13 and Julia is 10. Yes, Julia has a kitten, too.

In March we got to watch Julia and her cheer team compete in Pasadena, that's her in the center-top of the photo.
